Warehousing systems upgraded at Sto

Storage and retrieval machines from DAMBACH Lagersysteme now in use at Sto.

Sto SE & Co. KGaA, based in Stühlingen in south-west Germany, produces thermal insulation systems, paints, plasters, and lacquers. The warehouse has been modernized in order to guarantee plant availability and productivity targets. That work required Sto to invest in four new storage and retrieval machines (SRM) from DAMBACH Lagersysteme.

Working together with SIEMENS as general contractor, the new DAMBACH MONO SRMs were installed as part of a retrofit project.

DAMBACH was appointed to dismantle the old SRMs and their running rails and to supply and install the new SRMs, which were lifted into the building via roof openings. Thanks to the modular design of the 33 m high SRMs, the work could be completed quickly and efficiently.

It was possible to configure the MONO units ideally to suit the existing warehouse situation. The rated load of 3000 kg required per SRM was achieved with a single-mast solution. DAMBACH’s own single-deep telescopic forks ensure trouble-free storage and retrieval of pallets across 8280 storage positions.

This modernization has not only improved plant availability, but also helped to secure the economic viability of the company.
